Internet Resource Management tutorial – half-day:

This tutorial introduces, highlights, and explains the essentials of Internet resource management. It focuses on understanding the structures, processes, procedures, and policies involved in requesting, allocating, and managing IPv4 and IPv6 Internet addresses and Autonomous System (AS) numbers.

The course also includes aspects of the APNIC Whois Database.

Network Security tutorial – 1-day:

The objective of this tutorial is to examine the elements involved in establishing and maintaining security for a network, and building understanding and familiarity with the operations.

Device and network infrastructure security is examined with a focus on establishing robust, stable, and secure networks and protecting the data and processes that occur.

The tutorial also covers the nature and structure of network attacks and the motivation that drives such online malicious activity, including: tools used in modern attacks, who is behind them, and their impact. The course further examines the actions and processes that can be used to identify, mitigate, and respond to such attacks.

IPv6 workshop – 2-days:

This technical workshop is made up of lectures and hands-on lab exercise to teach the concept of IPv6 protocol architecture, its addressing structure, design issues when planning for IPv6 deployment focusing on IP core network. It discusses network infrastructure design principles for dual stack deployment, OSPFv3, MP-BGP, transition technologies etc. Also presented for understanding and to encourage best practice knowledge.

The course includes considerable practical work based on IPv6 and Cisco IOS router configuration commands.

Target audience

Internet Resource Management tutorial: this course is targeted at IT professionals who are responsible for administering and managing Internet resources, DNS operations, and data networks in general, as well as those interested in an overview or update of address management practices.

Network Security tutorial: this tutorial is for all engineers and operators concerned with network security, who are interested in gaining an understanding of and how to mitigate threats.

IPv6 workshop: both Entry and/or mid level technical staff of ISP, network operators or enterprise, who are involved in day-to-day network operation and planning function.


Internet Resource Management tutorial: it is assumed that participants have some understanding of networking fundamentals.

Network Security tutorial: this tutorial is for all engineers and operators concerned with network security, who are interested in gaining an understanding of and how to mitigate threats.

IPv6 workshop: it is assumed that participants have a basic understanding of network operations, Internet technologies, OSI reference model, TCP/IP and familiar with router operating system software (i.e Cisco IOS etc).
