Synopsis:

An Autonomous System (AS) is a group of IP networks operated by one or more network operator(s) that has a single and clearly defined external routing policy.

This eLearning course introduces participants to Autonomous Systems and the nature of policy-based routing as well as the policies and procedures on how to request Autonomous System Numbers (ASNs) from APNIC.

Target Audience:

This course is designed for network engineers, systems administrators, and anyone who is involved in managing Internet resources.

Pre-requisites:

Basic understanding of Internet networking and related Internet fundamentals.

Course Outline:

  • What is an Automonous System Number (ASN)?
  • When do I need an AS Number?
  • Requesting an AS Number
  • AS Number Representation
  • Two-Byte and Four-Byte AS Number

Other requirements:

  • Updated web browser with Adobe Flash Player 11 or above
  • Broadband connection running at a minimum of 256kbps or better
  • Headset (to reduce noise)

Maximum number of attendees:

50 participants per session
